By Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE (6/1/13) – Jamie Mills has reason to smile this season. Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway he led flag to flag for his third consecutive win in the NAPA Big Block Modifieds.
Following the heats which were won by Mills and Michael White, the inversion draw was a zero putting Mills on the pole for the second week in a row. Not prone to making mistakes, Mills took off and became the car to catch from the drop of the green. Matt Jester shot to the outside and powered into second with White holding on to third.
H.J. Bunting was on the move taking fourth by lap five with Beau Wilkins holding fifth. By lap ten the focus was on Joseph Watson who was flying through the field on the outside and up to fourth. Howard O’Neal came to a stop with four to go bringing out only the second caution of the race and putting Jester back on Mills’ bumper.
Mills would make no mistakes in the closing laps and drove his Bicknell chassis car to his third win. Bunting got by Jester with two to go to finish in the second spot with Jester holding on for third. Fourth went to Watson and Wilkins rounded out the top five.
