By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE = A quickly passing line of thunderstorms produced nearly two inches of rain forcing the cancellation of Saturday night’s racing at the Delaware International Speedway. The break may have been welcomed by many of the race teams as a busy month of August awaits them.
This Saturday night, August 2nd will be a 20 lap Mod Lite Fall Championship qualifier plus the NAPA Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models, Crate Models, AC Delco PSC Modifieds and Vintage Stock cars. August 9th will feature a 30 lap Fall Championship qualifier for the NAPA Big Block Modified division plus weekly divisions and the Little Lincoln Vintage Cars.
The event everyone has be waiting for will be Thursday night, August 14th. The World of Outlaws Late Models will return for the Fulton Bank 50. The $10,000 to win race was rained out in May but fortunately as able to be rescheduled for the 14th. The Late Models will be joined by the Little Lincoln Vintage Cars on the program. August 16th will be the rescheduled “Twin 20’s” for the NAPA Big Block Modifieds along with the weekly divisions plus the Delmarva Chargers. The Mar Del Watermelon Association will sponsor the program on August 23rd with the five weekly divisions and the “King of Kings” for Super Late Model winners plus the Super Trucks.
August will finish up in a big way on the Saturday night August 30th when R.C. Holloway Company will sponsor the program featuring the second and final appearance of the season of the United Racing Company Sprint Cars plus the five weekly divisions.
