JAMIE RUSSELL SCORES SECOND WIN OF SEASON IN SUPER PRO

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Jamie Russell of Dover, Del. continued his strong season on Friday night as he captured his second win of the year in Super Pro at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. was back on top in Pro while Tyrone Dale of Salisbury ended James Farmers win streak with a victory in Pro Bike. Other winner on the night included defending Street champion Frank Parks of Denton, Md and Ed Tull of Willards, Md. in Hot Rod. Greensboro, Md.’s Bowie brothers, Nicholas and Jacob, swept the Jr. Dragster finals with Jacob winning the Shoot Out.

It was an all-dragster final as Jamie Russell took on Ricky Payne of Salisbury. Russell took the win with a blistering 7.333/181.63 on a 7.32 dial while Payne left early and fouled. Semi-finalists was Sterling Clough of Marion, Md. who lost to Payne, and Laura Landry who lost to Russell

The Pro final matched Daryl Beauchamp and Chad Thurmon of Vienna, Md. Even though Thurmon had a red light foul Beauchamp was still on his dial running a 10.324/128.22 on a 10.32 for the win. Semi-finalists were Doug Sylvester of Seaford, Del. who lost to Beauchamp and Jay Parrott, III of Salisbury who lost to Thurmon.

Tyrone Dale rode into the Pro Bike final facing Anthony Buckson of Smyrna. Dale had the better reaction which earned him the win with an 8.851/156.84 on an 8.78 dial. Buckson had a 9.094/141.11 on a 9.07 dial. Semi-finalist was Harvey Powell of Parsonsburg, Md. who lost to Dale while Buckson had the bye.

It was Frank Parks in his ’73 Mustang paired with Ryan Lecates of Salisbury in his ’88 Chevy S-10 in the Street final. Lecates was late at the start and Parks took the victory with an 11.752/114.35 on an 11.74 dial. Lecates was too quick with an 11.942/98.87 on a 12.08 dial. In Hot Rod it was Ed Tull in his ’66 Chevelle matched against Bruce Alexander, Jr. of Delmar, Md. in a ’94 Chevy S-10. Tull took the win with a 13.614/87.26 on a 13.57 dial. Alexander was late off the line and ran a 19.015/70.98 on an 18.07.

It was all in the family in the Jr. Dragster finals. Nicholas Bowie faced Morgan Larkin of Salisbury in the Jr. 1 final. The pair were even off the line but Bowie took the win with a 12.135/48.42 on a 12.10 dial. Larkin had an 8.975/73.71 on an 8.93 dial. In the Jr. 2 final Jacob Bowie was matched with Dacia Powell of Salisbury. It was a good run with Jacob taking the win with a 7.995/81.47 on a 7.97 dial. Powell ran a 7.941/83.01 on a 7.93 dial. In the Shoot Out between the brothers, Jacob had the better reaction and took the double break out win with a 7.988/81.31 on a 7.99 dial. Nicholas was out by more running under his dial with a 12.094/50.82 on a 12.12 dial.

The U.S. 13 Dragway will celebrate the 4th of July on Friday night with the 4th appearance of the “Bad 8” this season. Also on tap will be Summit E.T. Racing Series bracket racing plus Hot Rod. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time trial at 4:30 and eliminations at approximately 8:30 p.m.
