By Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE – After two days of torrential rain the US 13 Dragway decided to try racing on Sunday afternoon. It turned out to be a beautiful day with low humidity and mild temperatures. The Top ET and Mod ET classes competed at the eighth-mile and taking the wins were Phillip Truitt of Salisbury, Md. in Top ET and Brian Reiberrt, Jr. of Snow Hill, Md. in Mod ET. Defending Pro Bike champion, Harvey Powell of Felton, Del. rode to the quarter-mile win in Pro Bike. Other winners included: James Turner of Vienna, Md. in Street; Denny Johnson of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Cole Foskey of Rhodesdale, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Caitlyn Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

It was Cash Days for the “List” with sponsorship added by L&D Performance ($500), Tony Pavone and Juniors Rod Shop ($200) and the 302 Grudge Page ($250). In the final it was Steve Drummond of Laurel scoring the $2000 win over Lewis Jones.

Phillip Truitt in his ‘80 Malibu faced veteran Sterling Clough in his dragster in the Top ET final. Clough had a -.070 red light foul and Truitt scored the $1500 win with a 6.700/96.06 on a 6.65 dial. Semi-finalist was Tommy Ketterman who lost to Clough while Truitt had the bye run.

Brian Reibert, Jr. in his ‘86 Chevy S-10 squared off against John Parks in his ‘67 Camaro in the Mod ET final. Parks was a tick too quick and broke out with a 6.893/97.56 on a 6.90 dial. Reibert got the victory running and $700 a 6.618/102.23 on a 6.60 dial. Semi-finalists were Kevin Yates who lost to Parks and Ben Garnett who lost to Reibert.

Harvey Powell on his Suzuki rode up against Chris Lynch of Ocean View, Del. on a Hayabusa in the Pro Bike final. Powell rode to the win and $225 with a 9.011/133.09 on an 8.96 dial. Lynch had a 10.175/130.07 on a 10.09 dial. Semi-finalist was Adam Melson who lost to Powell while Lynch had the bye.

James Turner defeated Billy McLamb in the Street Eliminator final. Turner had the better reaction and ran a 13.566/101.59 on a 13.53 dial. McLamb had a 13.102/101.39 on a 13.03 dial. In Hot Rod it was Denny Johnson over Sara Davis. Davis had a .007 reaction light but was off her dial with a 12.537/96.31 on a 12.30 dial. Johnson won with a 10.406/129.49 on a 10.21 dial.

In Jr. Dragster 1 Cole Foskey was paired against Danielle Donze. Foskey took the win with a 12.001/53.24 on an 11.90 dial. Donze ran a 9.106/69.54 on an 8.95 dial. Jr. Dragster 2 found Caitlyn Hooper taking on Nicholas Bowie. Hooper took the win with a 7.931/81.18 on a 7.90 dial. Bowie had a 7.992/79.96 on a 7.94 dial and locked into a three way tie for the point lead with Bowie and Brett Holston.

Racing returns on Friday night August 4th with gates opening at 3:30 p.m., time runs at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8 p.m.
