BERNIE PYLES WINS FIRST POINTS RACE AT U.S. 13 SUNDAY
By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (4/3/11) – Bernie Pyles of Millersville, Md. drove his ’64 Chevy II to victory in Sunday’s Super Pro final at the U.S. 13 Dragway. It was the first Summit E.T. Point Series event of the season. Tim Foskey, Jr. of Vienna, Md. was the winner in Pro and James Farmer of Felton, Del. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Dennis Davis of Seaford, Del. in Street; Cardi Nock of Bridgeville, Del. in Bike Trophy; Alexis Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Ashley Parsons of Delmar in Jr. Dragster 2.
           It was an all-Chevy II final in Super Pro with Bernie Pyles taking on Don Teague of Newark, Del. in his seven second ’67 Chevy II. Pyles made like James Bond and had a .007 reaction light and then drove to the win with a 9.945/125.78 on a 9.93 dial-in. Teague went all out but came up short at the finish line with a 7.868/171.59 on a 7.84 dial. Semi-finalist was last week’s winner, Ben Parks of Salisbury, Md. who lost to Pyles while Teague had a bye.
           In the Pro final it was Tim Foskey, Jr. going up against Ben Garnett of Smyrna, Del. Garnett, driving his ’71 Maverick, had the better reaction but Foskey was almost dead-on his dial taking the win with a 10.231/131.27 on a 10.23 dial. Garnet ran a 9.508/141.15 on a 9.46 dial. Semi-finalists were Jim Williams of Seaford who lost to Garnett and Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dover, Del. who lost to Foskey.
           James Farmer rode up against Tony Mumford of Berlin, Md. in the all-Kawasaki final. Mumford had a red-light foul and Farmer rode to the win with a 9.096/141.95 on a 9.11 dial. Semi-finalist was defending champion Charles Nock of Greenwood, Del. who lost to Farmer.
           Dennis Davis defeated Chelsea Williams of Seaford in the Street Eliminator final. Williams broke out with an 11.344 on an 11.38 dial. Davis took the win with an 11.527/116.18 on an 11.50 dial. Cardi Nock rode to his second win in Bike Trophy taking the final over Don Lukens of Dover. Nock ran a 9.239/138.80 on a 9.10 dial while Lukens was off his dial with an 11.404/117.58 on an 11.00 dial.
           Alexis Truitt was paired against Ryan Jackson of Newark, Md. in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Truitt had the better reaction and was on her dial taking the win with an 8.912/71.71 on an 8.91 dial. Jackson ran an 8.950/71.82 on an 8.94 dial. Ashley Parsons was matched against Herby Sullivan of Ridgely, Md. in the Jr. Dragster 2 final. Parsons took the win with a 7.943/82.71 on a 7.90 dial. Sullivan ran a solid 8.025/81.30 on a 7.93 dial.
           Wednesday night will be a Tune & Test Night with gates opening at 5 p.m. and Tune & Test from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, April 10 will be the second Summit E.T. Point Series event with gates opening at 10 a.m. and time runs at 11 a.m.
