BILLY GROTON WINS SUPER ET FRIDAY AT U.S. 13
By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (6/25/11) – Second generation driver, Billy Groton of Seaford, Del. drove his ’67 Pontiac to his first win of the season in the Super Pro final, Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Eddie Baker of Salisbury, Md. posted his third win of the year in Pro and Sherell Blake of Delmar, Md. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the night included: Joshua Broad of Parsonsburg, Md. in BikeTrophy; Henry Osowiecki of Salisbury in Street; Bradley Kenton of Severn, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Katelyn Muir of Delmar, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.
Billy Groton faced Brooks Moore of Bishopville, Md. in his ’66 Chevy II in the Super Pro final. Groton had the better reaction with a .014 and took the double break out win with an 11.797/111.59 on an 11.80 dial. Moore had a 10.574/126.15 on a 10.59 dial. Semi-finalists were Doug Sylvester of Laurel, Del who lost to Moore and Keith Wildonger of Seaford who lost to Groton.
In the Pro final it was Eddie Baker in his ’82 Malibu up against David Hornsby of Delmar in his ’70 Nova SS. Baker had the better start with a .015 light and took the win with a 10.888/111.30 on a 10.85 dial. Hornsby had a 10.409/127.33 on a 10.34 dial. Semi-finalists were Roman Skarbek of Salisbury who lost to Hornsby and Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. who lost to Baker.
Sherell Blake rode up against D.J. Lockwood of Berlin, Md. in the Pro Bike final. Lockwood had a -.008 red light foul and Blake made a full pass at 9.136/149.90 for the win. Semi-finalist was Anthony Buckson of Smyrna, Del. who lost to Blake while Lockwood had a bye in the semi-final round.
Henry Osowiecki drove his Chevy S-10 to the Street win over Chuck Wayne of Millsboro, Del. Wayne had a red light foul and Osowiecki ran a 12.396/107.95 on a 12.40 dial for the win. Joshua Broad had the better reaction and rode to the win in Bike Trophy over Dave Truitt of Bridgeville. Broad ran a 13.198/102.92 on a 12.56 dial while Truitt had a 15.463/84.31 on a 14.50 dial.
Bradley Keyton was paired against Tyler Powell of Delmar, Md. in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Keyton posted his first win in the double break out final with an 8.987/71.24 on an 8.99 dial. Powell had a 9.914/72.27 on an 8.93. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was an all-female final with Kately Muir going up against Shelby Bireley of Salisbury. Bireley had a red light foul with a -.023 and Muir took the win with a 7.923/82.78 on a 7.90 dial.
This Friday night the Bad 8 Open Wheel and Full Body drivers return along with the Summit Racing Point Series divisions and Bike Trophy. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 and eliminations at approximately 8:30 p.m.
