DAVID LOWE HOLDS OFF VERNON RUSSELL FOR SUPER PRO WIN FRIDAY NIGHT

David LoweBy Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (7/15/11) – It took everything that he had but David Lowe of Salisbury, Md.  was able to edge point leader Vernon Russell of Dover, Del.to win the Super Pro final Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Joe Glynn of Queenstown, Md. took the win in Pro and James Farmer of Denton, Md. rode to the win in Pro Bike. It was brother vs. sister in the Street Eliminator final with Chelsea Williams of Seaford, Del. taking the win. Other winners included Harvey Powell of Salisbury, Md in Bike Trophy, Tyler Powell of Delmar, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Katelyn Muir of Delmar, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

 

It was a full body final in Super Pro as David Lowe in his ’01 Firebird faced Vernon Russell in his ’81 Camaro. Russell set the bar with a .005 reaction light but Lowe countered with an almost dead-on 8.862/149.95 on an 8.82 dial to take the win. Russell ran an 8.539/158.28 on an 8.51 dial. Semi-finalist was David Tucker of Elendale, Del. who lost to Lowe while Russell had the bye run.

 

Joe Glynn faced Phillip Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. in the Pro final. Truitt was one one-thousandths of a second too early on the start and fouled and Glynn ran a 10.094/131.54 on a 10.08 dial for the win. Semi-finalist was Robin Lewers of Delmar, Md. who lost to Glynn.

 

James Farmer rode up against John Bartkovich of Salisbury, Md. in the Pro Bike final. Farmer had the better reaction time and rode to the win with a 9.161/135.74 on a 9.12 dial. Bartkovich had a 13.667/93.01 on a 13.64 dial. Semi-finalists were Ash Hayward of Berlin, Md. who lost to Bartkovich and Chase Brickhouse of Salisbury who lost to Farmer.

 

For the second time this season it was brother vs. sister in the Street final as Chelsea Williams faced her brother Brad Williams. In a reverse of their last meeting, Chelsea had the better reaction and took the win with an 11.230/116.95 on an 11.19 dial as Brad broke out with a 10.479/129.19 on a 10.49 dial. In Bike Trophy it was Harvey Powell of Salisbury on his Kawasaki quad posting another win this time over Troy Mitchell of Salisbury on a ZX 14. Powell had the better reaction and ran a 16.994/63.73 on a 16.88 dial for the win. Mitchell broke out with a 10.335/136.40 on a 10.36 dial.

 

Tyler Powell was paired against Michael Ennis of Delmar in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Powell was on his dial with an 8.905/73.00 on an 8.90 dial for the win. Ennis had a good run at 8.978/71.18 on an 8.94 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Katelyn Muir up against Herby Sullivan of Ridgely, Md. It was a very close run with Muir having a .074 reaction and  taking the victory with a 7.929/82.57 on a 7.90 dial. Sullivan had a .094 light and ran a 7.923/82.16 on a 7.91 dial.

 

This Wednesday night will be a Tune & Test Night with gates opening at 5 p.m. and time runs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday night July 22nd the Bad 8 return along with the Summit Racing Series. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8:30 p.m.
