VIC GORDY TURNS CONSISTENCY INTO SUPER PRO WIN AT U.S. 13

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (8/5/11) – “Slick� Vic Gordy of Ellendale, Del. was almost dead on his dial-in all night and that carried him to the win in Friday night’s Super Pro final at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Phillip Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. was back on top in Pro and James Farmer of Denton, Md. rode to his seventh win of the season in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Franks Parks in Street Eliminator; Brandon Clark of Frankford, Del. in Bike Trophy; Tyler Powell of Delmar, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1; Chase Cathell of Seaford, Del. in Jr. Dragster 2 and Josh Davis of Seaford in High School Eliminator.

 

Vic Gordy faced Danny Bastianelli of Georgetown, Del. in the Super Pro final. The two were evenly matched in their reaction times but as he had been all night long, Gordy was on his dial and took the win with a 9.437/142.58 on an 9.43 dial. Bastianelli had a 7.530/168.44 on a 7.51 dial. Semi-finalists were Veanettea Ennis of Pocomoke, Md. who lost to Gordy and Bunky Truitt of Delmar who lost to Bastianelli.

 

Phillip Truitt met Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. in the Pro final. Truitt had the better reaction and took the win with a 10.262/123.62 on a 10.23 dial. Foskey, Jr. ran a 9.523/137.97 on a 9.50 dial. Semi-finalists were Justin Abbott of Greenwood, Del. who lost to Truitt and Kevin Parks of Greensboro, Md. who lost to Foskey.

 

James Farmer remained the rider to beat in Pro Bike as he defeated David Manuel of Pittsville, Md. Farmer had a .009 reaction light and took the win with a 9.292/123.16 on a 9.20 dial. Manuel had a 10.724/125.64 on a 10.64 dial. Semi-finalists were Cardi Nock of Bridgeville, Del. who lost to Farmer and D.J. Lockwood of Berlin, Md. who lost to Manuel.

 

Frank Parks defeated Chelsea Williams of Seaford to win in Street Eliminator. Williams broke out with a 12.277 on a 12.29 dial and Parks winning run was an 11.769/108.48 on an 1175 dial.

 

Brandon Clark had the better reaction and took the win in Bike Trophy over Irvin Bonneville of Laurel, Del. Clark ran a 10.198/119.55 on a 10.00 dial while Bonneville had a 10.674/127.17 on a 10.62 dial.

 

The special High School Eliminator was won by Josh Davis over Lorynn Huntington of Parsonsburg, Md. Davis ran a 14.230/83.16 on a 14.09 dial to Huntington’s 16.148/89.24 on a 15.89 dial.

 

Point leader Tyler Powell extended that lead winning the Jr. Dragster 1 final over Michael Ennis of Delmar who was making his second visit to the final round. Powell ran an 8.935/71.37 on an 8.90 dial while Ennis had an 8.966/70.39 on an 8.91 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Chase Cathell getting his first win over Amy Jo Jackson of Newark, Md. Cathell ran a 7.952/80.37 on a 7.90 dial while Jackson ran an 8.063/80.31 on a 7.91 dial.

 

This Friday night will be another Summit E.T. Racing Series event. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time runs beginning at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8:30 p.m.
