RAIN BRINGS EARLY END TO ELIMINATIONS AT U.S. 13 DRAGWAY

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (7/27/12) – Even though Delmarva is in much need of rain, racers at the U.S. 13 Dragway wish that Mother Nature would pick a time other than Friday nights to try to help out. Showers hit just past halfway of eliminations with the money divisions splitting the purse among those drivers still remaining in the eliminations.

The six drivers remaining in Super Pro were: Vance Owens of Georgetown, Del.; Dave Elliott of Salisbury, Md.; Paul Lake of Greenwood, Del.; Eric Mason of Pocomoke, Md.; Sterling Clough of Marion, Md. and Bobby Insley of Salisbury.

Six drivers also remained in Pro before the rain. The included: Rodger Ridgeway, Jr. of  Dover, Del.; John Kulaga of Dover; John Henderson of Frederica, Del.; Glenn Groton of Salisbury; John Parks of Denton, Md. and Jamie Sullivan of Delmar, Md.

Three riders remained in Pro Bike eliminations. They were: David Manuel of Pittsville, Md.; Charles Nock of Greenwood and Turon Davis of Parsonsburg, Md.

Five cars remained in Street Eliminator. They were: Wayne Phippin of Salisbury, Md.; Chuck Wayne of Millsboro, Del.; Paul Bradley of Millsboro; Henry Osowiecki of Mardella Springs, Md. and Dennis Davis of Seaford, Del. Bike Trophy was down to the final run with Troy Wongus, Jr. of Cambridge, Md. set to take on Alonzo Trower of Birdsnest, Va.

Jr. Dragster 1 was set to be a rematch of last week’s final with Dacia Powell of Tyaskin, Md. paired against Brittany Hooper of Hurlock, Md. Four cars remained in the Jr. Dragster 2 eliminations and they were: Katie Bromwell of Seaford; Paul Riddle, Jr. of Millsboro; Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. and Robynn Powell of Salisbury.

This Friday night will be the fifth event in the Bad 8 Series plus Summit E.T. Racing Series action. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8 p.m.
