US 13 Dragway
LAURA LANDRY GETS FIRST SUPER PRO WIN SUNDAY AT U.S. 13
By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (6/9/13) – It was both the final Sunday race before switching to Friday nights and double points Sunday at the U.S. 13 Dragway. It was also the first time for Laura Landry of Townsend, Del. to score a final round win at the track in Super Pro. John Parks of Denton, Md. picked up the win in Pro and Anthony Buckson of Smyrna, Del. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Gary Stickles of Delmar, Md. in Street; James Paylor of North East, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Ryan Jackson of Newark, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.
Larua Landry faced Steven Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. in the Super Pro final. Truitt in his Camaro left too early by one one-thousandth of a second and fouled and Landry, in her ’67 Chevelle, took the win with a 9.737/137.00 on a 9.72 dial. Semi-finalists were Bernie Pyles of Millersville, Md. who lost to Landry and Robert Messick of Pittsville, Md. who lost to Truitt.
John Parks met Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dover, Del. in the Pro final. Parks took the hole shot win with a 10.543/121.47 on a 10.48 dial. Rkdgeway, Jr. left late and ran a 10.266/131.48 on a 10.23 dial. Semi-finalists were Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. who lost to Parks and Andy Davenport of Seaford, Del. who lost to Ridgeway, Jr.
Anthony Buckson rode into the Pro Bike final against Marquise Blake of Frankford, Del. Buckson had the better reaction and took the victory with a 9.337/129.18 on a 9.26 dial. Blake ran a 9.156/152.54 on a 9.10 dial. Semi-finalists were David Manuel of Pittsville who lost to Buckson and Earl Davis of Parksley, Va. who lost to Blake.
The Street final matched Gary Stickles in his ’78 Fairmont against the ’73 Mustang of Frank Parks of Denton. Stickles had the better reaction and drove to the win with a 14.164/92.90 on a 14.16 dial. Parks had an 11.838/113.17 on an 11.78 dial.
In Jr. Dragster 1 it was James Paylor taking on point leader, Dacia Powell of Salisbury. Paylor had the better start and took the win with a 13.023/47.16 on a 12.95 dial. Powell ran a 9.067/71.87 on a 9.04 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Ryan Jackson topping Alex Bradford of Newark, Md. It was a very tight run with Jackson taking the win with a 7.955/81.66 on a 7.95 dial. Bradford was right there with a 7.964/81.68 on a 7.96 dial.
This Wednesday night will be Tune & Test Night. Gates open at 5 p.m. with tune and testing from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Action in the Summit E.T. Racing Series moves to Friday night’s for the summer on June14th. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time runs at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8 p.m.
