BEN PARKS BACK ON TOP SUNDAY AT U.S. 13 DRAGWAY

 

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Ben Parks of Salisbury, Md. captured the Super Pro final and ended Sunday’s day of racing at the U.S. 13 Dragway just three points behind Super Pro division leader, Mike Jones. Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dover, Del. increased his point lead in Pro by picking up another win and Jimmie Miller of Gambrills, Md. moved back on top of the standings with his win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Josh Nichols of Hebron, Md. in Street; Ed Tull of Willards, Md. in Hot Rod; Cody Drummond of Laurel, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1; and Tyler Powell of Salisbury in Jr. Dragster 2 and the Jr. Shoot Out.

 

Ben Parks met Bobby Insley of Salisbury in the Super Pro final in a battle of 170 mph plus dragsters. Parks had a .002 reaction light and drove to the win with a 7.809/170.71 on a 7.80 dial. Insley ran a 7.595/175.06 on a 7.58 dial. Semi-finalists were Tommy Ketterman of Salisbury who lost to Parks and Mike Jones of Salisbury who lost to Insley.

 

Roger Ridgeway, Jr. faced Ernie Fisher of Laurel, Del. in the Pro final. Ridgeway took the win with a 10.200/126.63 on a 10.15 dial. Fisher ran a 10.066/132.23 on a 10.01 dial. Semi-finalists were Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. who lost to Ridgeway, Jr. and Wayne Redrow of New Castle, Del. who lost to Fisher.

 

Jimmie Miller rode up against Brandon Clark of Frankford, Del. in the Pro Bike final. Miller had the better reaction and rode to the win with a 9.046/146.27 on an 8.96 dial while Clark had a 9.328/148.12 on a 9.24 dial. Semi-finalist was Charles Nock of Greenwood, Del. who lost to Clark while Miller had the bye.

 

Josh Nichols defeated Frank Parks of Denton, Md. to post another win in Street and increase his point lead. Nichols ran a 15.244/92.33 on a 15.21 dial for the win. Parks had an 11.937/111.89 on an 11.89 dial. In Hot Rod it was Ed Tull over Ray Domulewicz of Hurlock, Md. Tull had the better reaction and took the win with a 13.728/99.23 while Domulewicz broke out with a 13.749/102.95 on a 14.00 dial.

 

In Jr. Dragster action Cody Drummond was paired against Ethan Hubbard of Princess Anne in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Drummond had a .006 reaction light and drove to the win with a 12.017/50.90. Hubbard broke out with an 8.880/74.39 on an 8.90 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Tyler Powell taking on Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. The pair were even at the start but Bowie broke out with a 7.897/82.72 on a 7.90 dial. Powell ran a 7.932/81.46 on a 7.92 for the win. In the Jr. Dragster Shoot Out it was Powell over Drummond. Powell had the better reaction and ran a 7.962/80.84 on a 7.92 dial while Drummond had a 12.097/48.46 on an 11.96 dial.

 

This Sunday will be the last Sunday before moving to Friday nights for the summer and will feature the Bad 8 plus the Summit E.T. Racing Series. Gates open at 10 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at 2:30 p.m.1225
