CHAD CATHELL GETS 1ST CAREER SUPER PRO WIN

 

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Chad Cathell of Seaford, Del. added his name as a competitor to the family legacy in winning the Super Pro final Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Chad’s great grandfather, William J. Cathell built and opened U.S. 13 fifty-one years ago. His grandfather, Charlie Cathell promotes the Dragway today and his father Mark, is a competitor and former winner in the Super Pro division.

Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. was back in the win column in Pro and James Farmer of Denton, Md. continues to rack up the wins in Pro Bike. Other winners included: Henry Osowiecki of Mardela Springs, Md. in Street; Billy McLamb of Mardela Springs in Hot Rod; Kayla Holden of Ridgely, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Kody Mariner of Salisbury, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

Chad Cathell faced Brooks Moore of Salisbury in the Super Pro final. Cathell secured the win at the starting line with the better reaction and took the win with a 9.382/132.39 on a 9.35 dial. Moore in his Nova ran a 10.813/121.95 on a 10.80. Semi-finalists were Horace Willey of Bishopville, Md. who lost to Cathell and Mike Larkin of Salisbury who lost to Moore.

Tim Foskey, Jr. met Bruce Cornish of Hurlock, Md. in the Pro final. Foskey, Jr. powered his Chevy S-10 to the win with a 9.821/124.61 on a 9.80 dial. Cornish in his ’68 Nova ran a 10.731/122.21 on a 10.69 dial. Semi-finalists were Eric Wessel of Centerville, Md. who lost to Foskey, Jr. and Vincent Wade of Eden, Md. who lost to Cornish.

James Farmer was back in the Pro Bike final this time riding up against Jimmie Miller of Gambrills, Md. The pair were one and two respectively in points coming into the final. Miller left early with a -.007 reaction and Farmer added yet another victory running an 8.681/146.03 on an 8.64 dial. Semi-finalist was John Bartkovich of Salisbury who lost to Miller while Farmer had the bye.

Henry Osowiecki picked up another win in Street this time against Leanne Toller of New Castle, Del. Toller left early and fouled and Osowiecki got the win with an 11.905/111.26 on an 11.84 dial. Billy McLamb defeated Bruce Alexander, Jr. of Delmar, Md. in the Hot Rod final. McLamb ran a 13.553/95.06 on a 13.46 dial. Alexander, Jr. was very late off the line then broke out with an 18.883/71.19 on an 18.93.

In Jr. Dragster action it was Kayla Bolden adding her name to the win column in Jr. Dragster 1. Bolden was paired against Nicholas Bowie who broke out with a 12.053/51.92 on a 12.18 dial. Bolden’s winning run was an 8.930/71.40 on an 8.91 dial. In the Jr. 2’s it was Kody Mariner taking on Ryan Jackson of Newark, Md. Mariner had the better start and took the victory with an 8.023/81.81 on a 7.97 dial. Jackson ran a 7.946/80.07 on a 7.93.

This Friday night will be another exciting Summit E.T. Racing Series bracket event plus the Jr. Shoot Out. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time runs at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8 p.m.
