BOBBY INSLEY ON TOP OF HIS GAME – WINS SUPER PRO FRIDAY NIGHT AT U.S. 13

 

 By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Bobby Insley of Salisbury, Md. was on his game Friday night as he capture the Super Pro final at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Andy Davenport of Seaford piloted his ’71 Maverick to the win in Pro while James Farmer of Denton, Md.  continued to be the motorcycle to beat in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Josh Davis of Seaford in Street; Erik Seal of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Hope Clarke of Parsonsburg, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2 and Cody Drummond of Laurel, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1 and the Jr. Dragster Shoot Out.

It was an all-open wheeled final in Super Pro as Bobby Insley faced Ricky Pane of Salisbury. Payne had a -.003 red light foul and Insley was on his dial for the win with a 7.616/174.01 on a 7.61 dial-in. Semi-finalists were Chad Cathell of Seaford who lost to Insley and Mike Jones of Salisbury who lost to Payne.

A pair of veterans advanced to the Pro final with Andy Davenport facing Wayne Redrow of New Castle, Del. Davenport was on his dial and took the win with a 9.009/143.93 on a 9.00 dial. Redrow ran a 10.198/127.31 on a 10.17 dial. Semi-finalists were Glenn Groton of Salisbury who lost to Davenport and David Hornsby of Delmar who lost to Redrow.

David Manuel of Pittsville made a valiant effort to unseat James Farmer in the Pro Bike final. Manuel had the hole shot at the start with a .014 reaction light but broke out with a 10.486/125.68 on a 10.54 dial. Farmer was smooth and consistent for the win running an 8.671/146.65 on an 8.66 dial. Semi-finalist was Cardi Nock of Bridgeville, Del. who lost to Manuel while Famer had the bye.

For the second week in a row Josh Davis took top honors in Street. Davis was paired against Michael Jefferson of Parsonsburg, Md. and was behind at the start but Jefferson broke out with a 12.923/103.79 on a 12.94 dial. Davis stayed over his dial and took the win with a 12.349/106.99 on a 12.32 dial. Wayne Phippin of Delmar had a red light foul and Erik Seal took the win in Hot Rod with a run of 15.494/90.84 on a 15.45 dial.

The Jr. Dragster 1 final was a rematch of two weeks ago as Cody Drummond faced Brittany Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in the heads-up run. Drummond had the better reaction and again took the win with an 8.928/72.81 on an 8.90 dial. Hooper had a solid run with an 8.935/72.51 on an 8.90. In the Jr. Dragster 2 final it was Hope Clarke taking on Cortney Cathell of Laurel. Clarke had the better start and took the win with an 8.784/72.41 on an 8.77 dial. Cathell had a 7.922/81.84 on a 7.90 dial. In the Shoot-Out between the two Jr. Dragster winners it was Drummond with the better reaction light taking the win with an 8.955/72.20 on an 8.91 dial. Clarke ran an 8.809/72.17 on an 8.77 dial.

This Friday night the Bad 8 return along with the Summit E.T. Racing Series and Hot Rod. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time trials at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations around 8:30 p.m.
