DAY 1 GAMBLER’S RACE KICKS OFF THE NHRA SUMMIT RACING SERIES ET FINALS AT U.S. 13

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – The NHRA Summit Racing Series ET Finals for the Northeast Division 1 got underway on Thursday, Sept. 18th with a full day of time runs and an evening Gambler’s Race. Drivers were required to run the car and division that they were registered for in the Bracket Finals.

 

The Super Pro final paired Jeff Krushinskie of Shamokin, Pa. in his ’01 Firebird against Jimmy Gagnon of Norfolk, Conn. In a dragster. Gagnon fouled in the final and Krushinski made and off the throttle pass at 13.083/65.24 on an 8.06 dial. Semi-finalist was Mark Gray of Martinsburg, W.V. who lost to Krushinskie while Gagnon had the bye.

 

David Nahill of Maple Shade, N.J. in his Nova took on Raymond Whitehead of Spotswood, N.J. in a Camaro in the Pro final. It was a good final with the pair even at the start and Nahill edging Whitehead running a 9.317/141.37 on a 9.29 dial. Whitehead had a 9.392/139.10 on a 9.36 dial. Semi-finalist was Christina Alden of East Bridgewater, Mass. who lost to Whitehead while Nahill had the bye.

 

Ron Blake of Oxford, Conn. on a Kawasaki ZX-14 rode up against John Snyder of Villas, N.J. on a Kawasaki in the Pro Bike final. Blake had the better reaction and took the win with a 9.617/137.55 on a 9.58 dial. Snyder broke out with an 8.702/149.57 on an 8.72 dial. Semi-finalist was U.S. 13 Champion, James Farmer of Denton, Md. on his Hayabusa who red lighted against Snyder while Blake had the bye.

 

It was Garden State racers, David Harvey against Dave Harvey in the Street final. David took the win in his Pontiac with an 11.657/1-9.46 on an 11.64 dial while Dave in his Plymouth Duster ran an 11.908/106.23 on an 11.85 dial. Semi-finalists were Paul Werner of Sinking Springs, Pa. who lost to Dave and Ed Talbert of Woodbine, Md. who lost to David.krushinski
