By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – The weather had a major impact on racing Sunday at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Strong cross winds produced potential danger for the faster cars forcing both Top Eliminator and Pro division to run only the eighth mile distance. Due to damp conditions late in the day, Laura Landry of Selbyville, Del. and Vernon Russell of Dover, Del. split the final round money in Top Eliminator. Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. drove his Chevy S-10 Pickup to the win in Pro while Harvey Powell of Felton, Del. rode his Suzuki to the win in Pro Bike. The first eliminations in the Crazy 8 Series for Bikes was won by Turon Davis of Georgetown. Other winners included: Josh Davis of Seaford, Del. in Street; Lou Phillips of Delmar, Md. in Hot Rod; Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Kody Mariner of Salisbury won in Jr. Dragster 2.

By the time the Top Eliminator final rolled into the lights the weather conditions had deteriorated with a light mist starting to fall. Laura Landry and Vernon Russell decided to split the final round money and made an off the throttle pass to end the day. Semi-finalists were Christian Walston and W.R. Ketterman.

Daryl Beauchamp faced Ryan Groton in his ’78 Camaro in the Pro final. Beauchamp had a .004 reaction light and drove to the win with a 6.489/104.76 on a 6.51 dial. Groton broke out with a 7.622 on a 7.66 dial. Semi-finalist was Marcus Wongus who lost to Groton.

Harvey Powell rode to the win on his Suzuki in Pro Bike. Powell faced Morgan Hudson on a ’12 Honda in the final and had the better reaction, taking the win with a 9.205/117.60 on an 8.95 dial. Hudson was late at the start and ran a 10.441/137.76 on a 10.23 dial. Semi-finalist was Turon Davis who lost to Hudson.

The first Crazy 8 Eliminations for motorcycles was held on Sunday with Turon Davis taking the win over Sherell Blake in the all-Suzuki final. Davis ran an 8.998/131.36 on an 8.88 for the win. Blake had a 9.192/145.79 on an 8.88.

Josh Davis picked up his second win of the year defeating Jay Parrott in the Street final. Davis had the better reaction and took the double break-out final with a 12.267 on a 12.30 dial while Parrott was out by a greater amount with a 14.115 on a 14.17 dial.

In Hot Rod it was Lou Phillips over Tom Binkley. Binkley had a red light foul and Phillips made a full pass at 14.123/95.55 on a 14.17 in his ’84 Monte Carlo for the win.

In Jr. Dragster action, Keith Riddle picked up his second win of the season by defeating Nyck Shirkey in the final. Shirkey broke out with an 8.901 on an 8.92 and Riddle got the win with an 8.946/71.99 on an 8.90 dial. Kody Mariner ended Jacob Bowie’s streak at two by winning the Jr. Dragster 2 final over Alex Bradford. Bradford left too early and fouled and Mariner got the win with a 7.900/81.87 on a 7.95 dial.

This week will be another ET Series event plus the Super vs. Pro Showdown. Gates open at 10 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at approximately 2 p.m.
