JAMIE RUSSELL CAPTURES SUPER FINAL PORTION OF JERRY KETTERMAN’S SUPER BAD 8

DELMAR, DE – Jamie Russell of Dover, Del. won one for the home team on Sunday as he capture the Super E.T. final in Jerry Ketterman’s Super Bad 8 Spring Nationals at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Kevin Banks of Fort Washington, Md. took the Bad 8 Full Body final while W.R. Ketterman of Salisbury won the Bad 8 Open Wheel final. In the “Bad to the Bone� Shoot-out between the two Bad 8 winners it was Banks over Ketterman. Other winners on the day included: Doug Sylvester of Seaford, Del. in Pro; Jimmie Miller of Gambrills, Md. in Pro Bike; Josh Davis of Seaford in Street; Wayne Phippin of Delmar in Hot Rod; Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

The Super Pro division elected to run the 1000 foot distance on Sunday so times and speeds will reflect that in the results. The Bad 8 Full Body final matched Kevin Banks in his ’63 Corvette against Carlton Mason in his ’72 Chevelle. The pair were even at the start with Banks taking the win with a run of 6.937/152.02 on a 6.93 dial. Mason had a 6.645.155.95 on a 6.62 dial.

In the Bad 8 Open Wheel final it was a pair of U.S. 13 regulars with W.R. Ketterman taking the win over Wayne Patton. Ketterman had a .008 light and ran a 6.024/165.74 on a 6.00 dial while Patton ran a 5.673/180.32 on a 5.65 dial.

In the “Bad to the Bone� Shoot-Out between the two Bad 8 winners it was Banks taking the honors over Ketterman. Banks had the better reaction and ran a 6.964/151.46 on a 6.93 dial while Ketterman had a 6.035/165.77 on a 6.00 dial. In qualifying for the Bad 8 Full Body Doug Farace of Towson, Md. set Low E.T. with a 5.896 and Top Speed at 180.83. In the Bad 8 Open Wheel it was Patton qualifying on top with a Low E.T. of 5.652 and Top Speed at 185.45.

The big winner on the day was Jamie Russell in his ’97 Dragster. Russell had qualified ninth missing the Bad 8 by one spot but was picture perfect through eliminations. Russell was scheduled to meet John Jelich of Gambrills, Md. in the Super Pro final but Jelich broke in the staging lanes giving Russell a solo pass for the win. Russell ran a 6.088/168.79 on a 6.09 dial. Semi-finalists were Steven Boone who lost to Jelich and David George who lost to Russell.

Doug Sylvester faced Marcus Wongus in the Pro final. Wongus fouled at the start and Sylvester made an off the throttle pass for the win. Semi-finalists were Rob Haberkorn who lost to Sylvester and Steve Long who lost to Wongus.

Jimmie Miller rode his Suzuki into the Pro Bike final against Drew Birch on his ZX10. Miller took the double break-out win with an 8.974/152.36 on an 8.99 dial. Birch was out by more running an 8.769/154.87 on an 8.82 dial. Semi-finalists were Morgan Hudson who lost to Birch and Harvey Powell who lost to Miller.

Josh Davis stayed on a roll as he won the Street final over Hunter Milligan. Milligan had a red light foul and Davis drove to the win with a 12.253/107.11 on a 12.23 dial. In the Hot Rod final it was Wayne Phippin over Tyler Ford. Phippin ran an 11.653/107.06 on an 11.62 to Ford’s 11.596/118.40 on an 11.50.

In Jr. Dragster action, Keith Riddle faced Cody Drummond in the Jr. 1 final. Riddle took the win with an 8.942/71.78 on an 8.91 dial. Drummond broke out with an 8.930/71.79 on an 8.94 dial. In Jr. 2 it was Jacob Bowie over Michael Ennis. Bowie had the better start and took the win with a 7.998/80.33 to Ennis'
