CHAD CATHELL SCORES “HONEYMOON� WIN FRIDAY NIGHT

 

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Last Sunday afternoon, Chad Cathell was married to Paige Townsend at the top end of the U.S.  13 Dragway. Marriage must be going well for him as he scored his second win of the season in Top Eliminator at the same dragway just five days later. Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dpver, Del. captured the Pro final and James Farmer of Milford, Del. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: John Elias of Delmar in Street; Wayne Phippin of Delmar in Hot Rod; Lawrence Currie of Philadelphia, Pa. in Crazy 8’s’; Kayla Bolden of Ridgely, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md, in Jr. Dragster 2.

 

It was an all-dragster final in the Top Eliminator final as Chad Cathell took on Phillip Truitt. Cathell advanced to the final after having a perfect .000 reaction light on a bye run in the Semi-finals. Truitt advanced to the final round with a win over Wayne Redrow. It was a double break-out final with Cathell taking scoring the win with a 7.807/170.74 on a 7.81 dial. Truitt was out by more with a 7.918/167.03 on a 7.93 dial.

 

In the Pro final it was Roger Ridgeway, Jr. in his ’80 Mustang against Bill Davenport of Clayton, Del. in his ’87 Ford Ranger. Davenport was late at the start and Ridgeway, Jr. drove to the win with a 10.493/110.78 on a 10.25 dial. Davenport ran a 10.815/120.67 on a 10.58 dial. Semi-finalist was Crystal Hudson who lost to Davenport while Ridgeway, Jr. had the bye.

 

James Farmer rode into the Pro Bike final facing Brice Cornish, Jr. Cornish was a little quicker at the start but Farmer had the better run to take his second win with an 8.722/139.25 on an 8.67 dial. Cornish was off his dial running a 9.891/137.63 on a 9.78. Quarter-finalist was Jimmy Scott who lost to Cornish while Farmer had the bye.

 

In the Crazy 8’s eliminations for motorcycles, Lawrence Currie took the win over Eddie Chapman. Currie had an 8.977/151.89 on an 8.88 index while Chapman broke out with an 8.876/151.77 on the 8.88 index.

 

John Elias in his ’81 AMC defeated Sharon Landry in her ’02 Camaro in the Street Eliminator final. Landry broke out with a 13.451 on a 13.48 dial. Elias ran a 13.001/107.14 on a 12.96 dial. In Hot Rod it was Wayne Phippin driving his ’80 Monte Carlo posting his seccond win of the season over Butch Harmon in his Corvette. Phippin ran an 11.873/102.40 on an 11.76 dial while Harmon posted a 14.500/94.56 on a 14.12.

 

In Jr. Dragster action Kayla Holden posted her first win this season in Jr. Dragster 1 over Caitlyn Hooper. Hooper left too early and fouled and Holden ran a 9.266/69.00 on a 9.22 dial for the win. In Jr. 2 it was defending champion, Jacob Bowie posted his fourth win defeating Alexis Truitt. Truitt had the better start but Bowie drove by at the finish with a 7.964/81.27 on a 7.94 dial while Truitt ran an 8.086/81.77 on an 8.00 dial.chad&paige
