The LIST "Hottest Street Grudge Racing" in the Mid-Atlantic

THE LIST WEEK 13

WOW...WHAT A NIGHT LIST FANS!!!

(Press release 7/1/15 RM Mark Cathell)

We've heard the rumors that our LIST is gaining popularity across the Mid Atlantic area. Lots of grudge racers are seeking, asking and wondering just "What is THE LIST"?
Before I go into that, let’s take a look at OUR own results FIRST! The night began, with word of # 10 Sal Patel, would not be able to make the call and defend his Gate Keeper position. This left the # 10 position vacant. Four racers entered the night event to race for the #10 spot.
Our first pair out, Craig Walls in the "Green Granade" Pro charger powered Mustang, and Wes Clifton in the wheel standing "Twisted Malibu". Clifton jumped out at the start and never looked back, crossing the stripe 2 car lengths ahead for the "W".
The next pair out, Steve Drummond in old "Eleanor" paired up against the "Big Body" Monte Carlo of Tom Lynch. Drummond jumped out of the gate first, as they reached the 300' mark Lynch trailed by over two car lengths. Old "Eleanor" stretched her lead even further and at the stripe, over 6 car lengths advantage gave Drummond the "W". This set up for a great final with of the two fastest cars on the property!
In the Finals, Drummond won the flip for lane choice. He chooses the right lane and Clifton in the "Twisted Malibu" headed to the left lane. After both cars did their burn-outs, Clifton's crew noticed mechanical issues with his car. This would give Drummond the race and the New # 10 Gate Keeper position. Here is a little side note, from Race Master Mark Cathell. After watching Drummond make his pass, if Clifton had chosen to stage up and take the tree, he could have won the race. Here is why, after Drummond left the starting line, his car moved out of the groove and crossed the center line knocking out the 330' cone. With this infraction, Clifton would have been awarded the win due to Drummond crossing the center line which would have ended in a DQ.
After we crowned a new gate keeper, we had some "Call Outs" to who would either move up or down THE LIST. Our first Call Out paired #7 Papi Guzman being challenged by # 8 Lewis Jones. Both drivers left about even at the start. Jones in the "2Barrell S-10" showed his muscle from half-track on and picked up the WIN. This now moved him into the # 7 spot, dropping Guzman to # 8.
Next up, # 4 Lance White & "No Piggy" had been Called Out by Antoine Jones in "Lisa Ray". Both of these cars have major horsepower under the hood and fans ran to the fence to witness this pair. When the instant green dropped, both left out of the gate side by side. Just about 100' out White's car drove out of the groove making him back pedal for just an instant. This was all "Lisa Ray" needed to pull away for the win. This gave Jones the # 4 position, placing him inside the Top 5 for the first time this year. White which held the # 1 position for 8 weeks, now dropped to # 5.

Now, the race for number 1, would round the corner and head to the line. Danny Clark in the # 2 "Boosted Deuce" challenged our # 1 man, Takii Smith in his "Corn Liquor" Mustang. Clark won lane choice on the flip, taking the right lane. As both cars staged carefully, both sides of the track were FILLED with fans waiting to see who would pulled out the win. Again, both drivers hit the tree, and the cars launched hard out of the gate. About 100' feet out both drivers had to peddle, as they threw everything they had and more at the track! Smith’s car recovered quickly and made his move towards the finish line. At the stripe, the champ would not be denied, Smith in his "Corn Liquor" Mustang, would retain his # 1 position.
As the evening was about to come to a close, we had another "Call Out" and not 1, not 2, but 3 All Out Grudge match races "Locked In". Our Call Out came as a result of Team Ballard Boyz Racing, forfeiting their # 6 position to Lewis Jones. Jones took full advantage of this opportunity and "Called Out" # 5 Lance White; this would finally let fans witness a DRC Team battle.
Jones and White made their way to the line, White winning the flip and choosing the right hand side. Jones carefully staged his S-10, as the tree dropped, both left the start with almost identical reaction times. These two cars hooked hard and left together, at the 330' mark still door to door. In high gear the S-10 of Jones made his move and crossed the stripe first, moving him into the Top 5, dropping White down to # 6.
As I stated in the beginning of my press release, the night wasn't over yet! You see LIST Fans; we are gaining momentum with OUR U.S. 13 Dragway LIST program. Last week, on the MD Grudge Talk facebook page, a challenge was put into place. Mr. Bruce Styles made the "Call Out" that his Metro Area Grudge group wanted some of the Boyz from the LIST/302. We gladly accepted his challenge and invited them across the bay.
So after all the activities of the LIST were complete, our very own Antoine Jones and Papi Guzman would do battle with Styles and his three entries.
First up, Antoine Jones in the ever popular "Lisa Ray" took on Jason Gray in his "Copper Head" entry Mustang. When the tree dropped, Jones jumped out with over a three car length lead. Gray would not back off and began to set his sight on the tail lights of Jones. As the cars passed the 330' mark, Copper Head and made up about a car length and a half. As both cars came to the finish line, Jones showed his power and held off Grays top end charge. The first "Battle of the Bay" went to the "302".
Next up, Big George and his "Ski Mask" Mustang entry, "Called Out" our "Team Yota" and Papi Guzman for race number two. This would place the nitrous powered Ford up against the 4 cylinder turbo charge Toyota. Again, the 302 racer pound the tree, leaving a car length out on "Ski Mask". Once both cars reached high gear, the turbo of Guzman was no match, giving Styles group loss number 2 on the evening.
This would lead to the FINAL pair of the night. Styles brought out one more entry in what we call an "OFF THE TRAILER" race. These two cars never made a test hit, meaning back'em off the trailer and RACE. Jones jumped out of the Lisa Ray entry and into Donte Halls "Killa" S-10 pick-up. Styles brought out the young gun of Marvin "Meek" Gray in his NOS powered Mustang. Jones in the Slaughter House Team Truck, staged up against Gray. When the green light dropped, Jones was out first. At half-track, the "Killa S-10" flexed its muscle and drove away from Gray. At the finish line....Team 302 would be 3 - 0! Undefeated on our home turf!
We would like to say Thank You to the Metro Area group for making the trip across the Bay for our mid- week event. Rumor has it, Mr. Styles will be back, and we look forward to more from him.
Well fans, we cannot express our gratitude enough for all the fans and teams who have supported the LIST Grudge Series so far this season. We will continue to work on this program, to make it more exciting and bring the best grudge racing has to offer.
Until next time, this is your Race Master, Mark Cathell leaving you with this....."BRAGGING ISN'T BRAGGING, UNLESS YOU CAN BACK IT UP!"
