Takii Smith in "Corn Liquor" still #1 on THE LIST by defeating "Boosted Deuce" Danny Clark
This past Friday night at the track, was definitely one to remember. We must first begin by asking all our followers to lift up Carlton Mason and his family in prayer. Carlton's beautiful Chevelle was severely damaged when his car went out of control. We believe he was knocked unconscious on the initial contact with the guardrail, leaving the car to travel down the track on it's own. After several blows off the guardrail down track, unfortunately his car never came to rest until the end of the shut down area. Also, prayers are need for Vernon Russel and his family. Vernon's car was involved on top end.
Our last report received, is that Carlton is doing well, even with all the injuries sustained. He did have surgery and is recovering well. His family said that he may even be released from the hospital as early as Tuesday. Track officials have been in constant contact with the family, and will continue throughout the week. We will keep our LIST family updated as the information comes in to us.
Once racing resumed, our LIST members brought the house, to the track, to see what it would take. Some members, made good passes and some had to head back to the pits to make adjustments. We were expecting to see three "CALL OUT" races for the evening. We were notified around 4:30pm that Barney Bowen and Poppy Guzman would not be able to make their Call Out.
This would leave us with one pair, #1 Takii Smith was being challenged again by #2 Danny Clark. On both their Test Hits, the two cars had some issues over powering the track. When the call was made both cars came to the lanes to do battle. Smith won the flip for lane choice and choose the right lane.
As both drivers staged, the crowd filled the fence line and grandstand areas to watch the REMATCH. At the drop of the green, both drivers left the starting line about even. Clark's car spun the tires again, Smith however stayed hooked to the track and pulled away for the victory. This was the third meeting and so far, Smith is 3-0 in the pairing. Takii Smith stays #1 for another week.
We have received some "Call Out's" for this Friday night already here in the home office. Lance White had "CALLED OUT" Barney Bowen to try and reclaim the number 5 position. Steve Drummond has "CALLED OUT" the Ballard Boys to challenge the number 7 spot.
Keep checking our page each days, as I will be sure to keep everyone post with the next "CALL OUT!"
