STERLING CLOUGH BACK ON TOP IN TOP ELIMINATOR AT U.S. 13
By CHARLIE BROWN, DELMAR, DE – Veteran Sterling Clough of Marion, Md. was back on top in Top Eliminator on Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Clough defeated Horace Willey of Willards, Md. for his second win of the season. Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. posted his first win since week three in Pro and John Bartkovich of Salisbury, Md. rode to his first win this season in Pro Bike. Other winners for the night were: Josh Davis of Seaford, Del. in Street; Billy McLamb of Mardella Springs, Md. in Hot Rod; Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2 and Nicholas Bowie of Greensboro in Jr. Dragster 1 and the Shootout.
It was dragster vs. “door slammer� in the Top Eliminator final as Sterling Clough took on Horace Willey. Willey with a two second spot and a .008 reaction light had a big advantage at the start but broke out with a 10.755 E.T. on a 10.77 dial-in. Clough was the beneficiary and ran an 8.663/153.06 on an 8.65 dial for the win. Semi-finalists was Toya Peek who lost to Clough while Willey had the bye.
Daryl Beauchamp in his Chevy S-10 pickup faced Ryan Groton in his ’78 Camaro in the Pro final. Beauchamp had the advantage from the start with a .003 reaction and ran a 10.458/122.48 on a 10.44 for the win. Groton broke out with an 11.955/107.18 on an 11.96 dial. Semi-finalists were Ernie Fisher who lost to Beauchamp and Tim Foskey, Jr. who lost to Groton.
“Dr. J� John Bartkovich rode his Honda into the Pro Bike final against “The Champ� James Farmer on his Hayabusa. Farmer had the better reaction time but was off his dial running an 8.549/136.42 on an 8.46 dial and Bartkovich was on with a 13.755/92.48 on a 13.75 for the win. Semi-finalist was Brice Cornish, Jr. who lost to Bartkovich while Farmer had the bye.
Josh Davis racked up his sixth win of the season defeating Jonathan Osowiecki in the Street Eliminator final. Osowiecki left too early and fouled and Davis piloted his ’77 Pacer to the victory with a 12.430/105.59 on a 12.40 dial.
In Hot Rod it was Billy McLamb picking up his first win of the year over Ryan Lecates. McLamb had the better reaction and held that advantage to the end for the win with an 11.729/102.58. Lecates was late at the start then broke out with an 11.556/111.67 on an 11.56 dial.
It was the battle of the Bowie brothers in the Jr. Dragsters. The defending champs both won their final then faced each other in the Shootout. In Jr. Dragster 1, Nicholas Bowie faced the tough Cody Drummond. Drummond left early and fouled and Nicholas ran an 8.910/70.22 on an 8.92 dial for the win. Then it was Jacob Bowie’s turn as he defeated Alexis Truitt in the Jr. Dragster 2 final. Jacob had the better reaction and ran a 7.997/81.19 on a 7.96 dial for the win. Truitt had a 7.962/83.11 on a 7.95 dial. In the Jr. Dragster Shootout, Nicholas defeated his older brother by running an 8.931/70.01 on an 8.91 dial while Jacob tried to play catch up and broke out with a 7.959/81.70 on a 7.97 dial.
