BRYAN HORNER DRIVES TO FIRST WIN IN TOP ELIMINATOR – CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT SUNDAY’S 8TH ANNUAL FORD SHOW

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – It was another great day of racing on Sunday as the U.S. 13 Dragway presented its 8th Annual Ford Show, Shine and Drags. It was also the final Summit Point Series race plus the 422 All Stars were on hand with their nostalgia drag cars. Bryan Horner of Delmar, Md. became the 10th different winner this season in posting his first win in Top Eliminator. Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dover earned his fourth win in Pro while James Farmer rode to back to back wins and his fourth overall in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: defending Street champion, Gary Stickles of Delmar, Md. in Street; Billy McLamb of Mardela Springs, Md. in Hot Rod; defending Jr. Dragster 1 champion, Nicholas Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1; Alex Bradford of Newark, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2 and John Reed of Baltimore, Md. in the 422 All Star Nostalgia eliminations.

The 2015 point champions will hold the distinction of being the first champions at the 52 year history crowned under the IHRA banner. The 2015 champions are: Ben Parks of Salisbury, Md. in Top Eliminator; Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. in Pro; James Farmer of Milford, Del. in Pro Bike; Josh Davis of Seaford, Del. in Street Eliminator; Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

The 422 All Star nostalgia racers were on hand. John Reed drove his 1967 Dodge Coronet to the final round win over Dan Woods of Gilbertsville, Pa. in his 1968 Ford Mustang. In the final Woods red light fouled and Reed ran a 10.680/123.84 on a 10.70 for the win. Semi-finalist was Gary Nies of Elkton, Md. in his ’64 Plymouth Fury who lost to Woods while Reed had the bye.

Bryan Horner in his ’67 Camaro faced Doug Milner in his ’71 Vega in the Top Eliminator final. Horner took the double break out win with a 9.378/143.26 on a 9.39 dial. Milner was out by just two one-thousandths more running a 9.626/138.24 on a 9.64 dial. Semi-finalists were Tommy Ketterman who lost to Horner and Phillip Truitt who lost to Milner.

In the Pro final it was Roger Ridgeway, Jr. over Humphrey Maddox, Jr. Maddox had a red light foul and Ridgeway took the win with a 10.216/131.81 in his ’80 Mustang. Semi-finalist was Marcus Wongus  who lost to Ridgeway while Maddox had the bye.

The Pro Bike matchup was a classic meeting between James Farmer on his Hayabusa and Harvey Powell on his Suzuki. Powell was late at the start and finished in the runner-up spot with a 9.047/144.88 on a 9.00 dial. Semi-finalist was D.J. Lockwood who lost to Powell while Farmer had the bye.

In the Street final it was the defending 2014 champion, Gary Stickles taking on the newly crowned 2015 champion Josh Davis. Davis had a solid run in his ’77 AMC Pacer with a 12.448/105.64 on a 12.40 dial.

Billy McLamb defeated Brad Russell in the Hot Rod final for his second win of the season. McLamb ran an 11.704/104.52 on an 11.67 dial while Russell had a 16.663/86.52 on a 16.46 dial.
