US 13 Dragway
BEN PARKS TAKES TOP POINT LEAD WITH WIN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
DELMAR, DE – Ben Parks of Salisbury, Md. was on his game when he took the win in the final round of Top Eliminator Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. With the win Parks moved into the point lead for the division. Ben Garnett of Smyrna, Del. drove his beautiful ’71 Maverick to the win in Mod and Deltez Davis of Salisbury rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the night included: Fred Neidlinger of Milford, Del. in Street; Sara Davis of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Caitlyn Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Alexis Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.
It was Parks taking on Bill Groton in the Top Eliminator final. The pair were even at the start but Groton was too quick and broke out by nine one-thousandths with a 10.131 on a 10.14 dial-in. Parks had been on his dial all night and took the win with a 7.868/165.16 on a 7.86 dial. Semi-finalist was Gregg Platter who lost to Parks who was dead-on his dial in the semi-final round.
In the Mod final it was Ben Garnett taking on Chelsea Williams in her ’67 Camaro. Williams had a -.001 red light foul and Garnett made a full pass at 9.129/145.77 on a 9.15 dial. Semi-finalists were Buddy Layfield who lost to Garnett and Steve Long who lost to Williams.
Deltiz Davis rode up against Jimmie Miller in the Pro Bike final. Miller left early and fouled and Davis rode his ’12 Kawasaki to the win with an off the throttle 9.243/109.21 on an 8.75 dial. Semi-finalists were Jason Taylor who lost to Davis and Harvey Powell who lost to Miller.
In the Street final Fred Neidlinger in his Corvette took on the ’78 Fairmont of former division champion Gary Stickles. Neidlinger had the quicker reaction and was on his dial with a 12.491/107.06 on a 12.49 for the win. Stickles ran a 13.554/98.61 on a 13.53 dial.
Sara Davis defeated Joe Schwartz in the Hot Rod final. Davis ran an 11.930/112.19 on an 11.92 dial while Schwartz had a 12.674/104.48 on a 12.63 dial.
In the Jr. Dragster 1 final it was Caitly Hooper paired against Nicholas Bowie. Hooper had the better reaction and drove to the win with an 8.952/71.68 on an 8.94 dial. Bowie ran an 8.962/72.95 on an 8.97 dial. It was an all-female final in Jr. Dragster 2 with Alexis Truitt paired against Dacia Powell. Powell had a -.005 red and Truitt was on her dial for the win with a 7.919/83.37 on a 7.91.
