US 13 Dragway
MIKE JONES ON TOP IN TOP ET AGAIN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
DELMAR, DE – Mike Jones of Salisbury, Md. found a way to beat both the heat and the Top ET field as he took the win Friday night at the U.S. 13 Dragway. Defending Mod ET champion Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. added to his career win total and Drew Birch of Whaleysville, Md. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the night included: Kody Mariner of Salisbury in Street; Sara Davis of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Caitlyn Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in Jr. Draster 1 and Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.
It was an all-dragster final in Top ET with two seven second cars going up against each other driven by two of the best – Mike Jones and Bobby Insley. Jones had the advantage off the starting line and drove past Insley to take the win with a 7.569/175.00 on a 7.54 dial. Insley ran a 7.733/172.97 on a 7.72 dial. Semi-finalists were Ricky Payne who lost to Insley and Frank Lecates who lost to Jones.
The Mod ET final paired Tim Foskey, Jr. in his Mustang against the Chevy S-10 of Humphrey Maddox, Jr.. Foskey used his better reaction light to drive to the win with a 9.567/132.31 on a 9.56 dial. Maddox ran a 10.960/123.55 on a 10.93 dial. Semi-finalist was Daryl Beauchamp who lost to Foskey while Maddox had the bye.
Drew Birch on his ZX-10 rode up against Pro Bike point leader Harvey Powell on his ‘84 Suzuki in the Pro Bike final. Birch had an outstanding .007 reaction time and rode to the win with an 8.961/143.76 on an 8.92 dial. Powell had a 9.187/138.95 on an 8.92 dial.
A pair of Jr. Dragster graduates met in the Street Eliminator final as Kody Mariner in his ‘78 Malibu on Michael Ennis in his ‘97 Dodge Dakota. Mariner took the win with an 11.616/96.13 on an 11.49 dial. Ennis was off his dial running an 18.481/70.59 on an 18.21 dial. In Hot Rod it was Sara Davis over Joe Serro. Davis was almost dead-on her dial running a 12.141/110.33 on a 12.14 dial. Serro broke out with a 10.349/115.14 on a 10.45 dial.
In Jr. Dragster 1 Caitlyn Hooper picked up another win this time by defeating Carter Foskey. Foskey left a fraction too early and fouled and Hooper ran an 8.989/71.54 on an 8.99 for the victory. In Jr.
Dragster 2 it was defending champion Jacob Bowie over Hope Clarke. Bowie had a super .003 reaction light and took the win with a 7.940/81.03 on a 7.90 dial. Clarke was almost dead-on with a 7.963/82.04 on a 7.96 dial.
