JOHNNY ENNIS PULLS UPSET IN 53RD ANNIVERSARY CHEVY SHOW AT U.S. 13

DELMAR, DE – Beautiful weather brought out a great crowd and a full field of racers and show cars on Sunday for the William J. & Juanita Cathell Memorial 53rd Anniversary Chevy Show, Shine and Drags at the U.S. 13 Dragway.

Former champion and veteran racer, Johnny Ennis of Pocomoke, Md. made a rare start and his first final of the season and he made it count as he headed a tough field of Top ET racers for his first win in several seasons. Chad Thurman of Seaford took top honors in Mod ET and Roland Byrd of Salisbury, Md. scored his first win this season in Pro Bike. The 302 List was in action and Takii Smith of Cambridge, Md. drove his Mustang to the win. Other winners on the day included: Billy McLamb of Delmar, Md. in Street; Sara Davis of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Carter Foskey of Rhodesdale, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Brett Holston of Felton, Del. in Jr. Dragster 2.

Johnny Ennis faced Alex Bradford in the veteran vs. the young talent, all-dragster Top ET final. Bradford had a -.003 red light foul and Ennis ended his win-less streak with a 7.717/171.49 on a 7.68 dial. Semi-finalist was Mike Hooper who lost to Bradford while Ennis had the bye.

Two of Street Eliminators best, Chad Thurman in his ‘69 Camaro and defending champion, Tim Foskey, Jr. in his ‘84 Mustang faced off in the Mod ET final. Foskey broke out with a 9.505 on a 9.52 dial-in and Thurman was on his dial for the win with a 9.793/136.23 on a 9.79. Semi-finalist was Marcus Wongus who lost to Foskey while Thurman had the bye.

Takii Smith of Cambridge, Md. drove his Mustang to the $3000 win in the 302 List final over Wes Clifton of Millsboro, Del. in his Chevy Malibu.

Roland Byrd on a GSXR 1000 rode up against Turon Davis on a Kawasaki in the Pro Bike final. Davis had a red light foul and Byrd blasted a 9.284/150.52 on a 9.30 dial for the win. Semi-finalist was Harvey Powell who lost to Davis while Byrd got the bye.

In the Street final it was Billy McLamb in his ‘78 Camaro over John Elias in his ‘81 AMC. Elias left early and fouled and McLamb ran a 12.436/106.11 on a 12.45 dial for the victory. In Hot Rod it was Sara Davis in her Camaro keeping her win streak alive with a win over Larry Bordley in a Jeep! Bordley red-lighted at the start and Davis ran a 12.051/111.34 onn a 12.45 dial.

In the Jr. Dragsters, Carter Foskey captured the Jr. Dragster 1 final over Cody Drummond. The pair had almost identical reaction times and Foskey edged Drummond with a 9.093/70.27 on a 9.08 dial. Drummond ran an 8.692/73.47 on an 8.67 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 Vance Usilton left too early and fouled and Brett Holston took the win Ennis
