REX LILLEY MAKES FIRST WIN A BIG ONE – SWEEPS BAD 8 & TOP ET AT 10TH ANNUAL FORD SHOW AT U.S. 13
Delmar, DE (9/11/16) – The 10th Annual Ford Show was a huge success Sunday at the U.S. 13 Dragway. The Cheswold Connection did another outstanding job with the Ford Show cars. Rex Lilley of Laurel, Del. made the large contingent of Ford fans on hand proud when he started his day by winning the Bad 8 Full Body final in his ‘88 small block Mustang then continued on to win his first final in Top ET. Mike Larkin of Salisbury, Md. took his six second dragster to the win in Bad 8 Open Wheel and Chelsea Williams of Seaford, Del. took the Mod ET final in her ‘67 Camaro.
Other winners on the day included: Robert Brummell of Rockville, Md. in Pro Bike; John Warehime of Parkville, Md. in the 422 All-Stars Super Stocks; Kody Mariner of Salisbury in Street; Joe Serio of Millsboro, Del. in Hot Rod; Nyck Shirkey of Ridgely, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Morgan Larkin of Salisbury in Jr. Dragster 2.
It was also the final race in the 2016 IHRA Summit Point Series. Mike Jones of Salisbury won the Top ET championship by just 11 points over Frank Lecates. Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. successfully defended his Mod ET title and Harvey Powell of Felton, Del. unseated James Farmer to win the Pro Bike title. Kody Mariner of Salisbury was a first time champion in Street Eliminator. Kieth Riddle of Millsboro took the Jr. Dragster 1 championship and Alexis Truitt of Parsonsburg, Md. tied with defending champion Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.
Mike Larkin faced Eddie Savage in the Bad 8 Open Wheel final The two were very close in their reaction times but Larkin blasted a 6.959/187.65 on a 6.94 dial-in for the win. Savage ran a 7.689/171.26 on a 7.63 dial. In the Full Body final it was Rex Lilley over Christopher Murray in his ‘81 Camaro. Lilly had the better reaction and took the win with an 8.696/154.95 on an 8.67 dial. Murray broke out with a 7.807/174.31 on a 7.81 dial.
Lilley continued on into the Top ET eliminations meeting Brooks Moore in his ‘67 Camaro in the all-full body final. Even though it was well past Lilley’s bed time he cut a .016 reaction light to take the win with an 8.702/157.92 on an 8.69 dial. Moore had a .030 reaction light and ran on his dial with a 9.974/134.81 on a 9.97.
The nostalgia cars of John Warehime in his ‘66 Chevelle and Gary Nies in his ‘64 Plymouth met in the 422 All-Stars Super Stock final. Warehime took the win with a 10.123/117.75 on a 10.05 dial while Nies was off the throttle with an 18.405/55.02 on a 10.10 dial.
A pair of top Mod ET drivers met in the final as Chelsea Williams in her ‘67 Camaro took on Daryl Beauchamp in is Z28 Camaro. Beauchamp had a -.006 red light foul and Williams got the win with an 11.570/113.82 on an 11.58 dial.
Robert Brummell on a Suzuki rode up against Travis Irving on his Kawasaki in the Pro Bike final. Brummell had the better reaction light and took the win running an 8.875/139.90 on an 8.81 dial. Irving was quick with an 8.893/152.12 on an 8.88 dial.
Kody Mariner picked up to spots and earned the championship with his win in Street Eliminator. Mariner was almost dead-on his 11.31 dial running an 11.313/113.67 to win the final. Michael Jefferson was at his side with almost an identical reaction time and running a 12.074/108.77 on a 12.07 dial.
Joe Serio had a solo run in the Hot Rod final when Sara Davis was unable to make the starting line. Serio ran a 10.376/129.51 on a 10.40 dial.
In Jr. Dragster 1, Nyck Shirkey won the battle but Keith Riddle won the war as Shirkey won their matchup but Riddle earned the point title. Shirkey had the better reaction and ran an 8.541/74.15 on an 8.52 dial while Riddle was late at the start but ran a 7.944/81.26 on a 7.94 dial.
In Jr. Dragster 2, Morgan Larkin was paired against Brett Holston. Larkin took the victory with an 8.442/78.63 on an 8.36 dial. Holston ran an 8.041/79.18 on a 7.97 dial.
Alexis Truitt and Jacob Bowie tied for the Jr. Dragster 2 championship and had a runoff to see who would get the “Gold Card� for the 2017 season. Truitt was on her dial and took the win with a 7.909/83.14 on a 7.90 dial. Bowie ran an 8.091/80.20 on a 7.93 dial.
The Jr. 1 and Jr. 2 champions then had a runoff to see who would represent U.S. 13 at the IHRA Bracket Finals at the Maryland International Raceway in October. Truitt had the better start and took the win with a 7.968/82.71 on a 7.93 dial. Riddle had a 7.965/79.64 on a 7.94 dial.
