DAVID KEYTON “DOUBLES DOWN� IN MOD ET FOR $1400 PAYDAY

By Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE – The US 13 Dragway managed to get a day without rain on Sunday. It was “Double Down Days� for Mod ET and David Keyton out of College Park, Md. paid the entry and drove away with $1400 in winning Mod ET. Fred Rogers of Laurel, Del. ended Ben Parks’ streak at two in winning Top ET and Harvey Powell of Felton, Del. won the l in Pro Bike over his brother, Roland Powell, Jr. In other action: Michael Jefferson of Parsonsburg, Md. made it two in a row in Street; Urias Shockley of Dover, Del. got his first win in Hot Rod; Cole Foskey of Rhodesdale, Md. captured Jr. Dragster 1 and Caitlyn Hooper of Hurlock, Md. won in Jr. Dragster 2.

The “Double Down� Mod ET final matched David Keyton in his Camaro against the Z28 Camaro of Daryl Beauchamp. Beauchamp had a -.009 red light foul and Keyton doubled his $700 payday with an off the throttle 15.060/61.08 on a 9.05 dial. Semi-finalists were Marcus Wongus who lost to Keyton and Ben Garnett who lost to Beauchamp.

Top ET paired the dragsters of Fred Rogers and Frank Lecates. Rogers had a .009 reaction light and took the eighth-mile win with a 4.864/140.69 on a 4.85 dial. Lecates ran a 5.151/132.72 on a 5.12 dial. Semi-finalists were Phillip Truitt who lost to Rogers and W.R. Ketterman who lost to Lecates.

The Pro Bike final found defending Pro Bike Champion, Harvey Powell on his ‘79 Suzuki going up against his brother, Roland Powell, Jr. on a ‘98 Ski Doo. It was bike over sled as Harvey had the better light and ran a 10.097/121.58 on a 9.97 dial for the win. The sled was late at the start but quicker running a 9.825/131.38 on a 9.70 dial. Semi-finalists were Morgan Hudson who lost to Harvey and Deltez Davis who lost to Roland.

Michael Jefferson was back on top in Street taking the final round win over Joe Serio. Jefferson ran an 11.485/111.44 on an 11.41 dial while Serio had an 11.858/108.69 on an 11.68 dial. In Hot Rod it was Urias Shockley scoring his first win in his ‘10 Dodge over Cortney Williams in a ‘12 Dodge. Williams left early and fouled while Shockley ran a 15.941/88.95 on a 15.92 dial.

In Jr. Dragster action, Cole Foskey had the better reaction and drove to the Jr. 1 win over Danielle Donze. Foskey ran a 12.050/52.51 on an 11.95 dial while Donze had a 9.002/70.95 on an 8.91. In Jr. 2 action Caitlyn Hooper met Brett Holston in the final. Holston left too early and fouled and Hooper scored the win with a 7.966/81.95 on a 7.90 dial.

The US 13 Dragway will be closed this Sunday in honor of Mother’s Day. There will be a “Tune & Test� night on Wednesday, May 17th with gates opening at 5 p.m. and Tune & Test from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
