GLENN REESE WINS HOT ROD REUNION SAT. - MOTHER NATURE WINS SUN.

Delmar, DE – What was scheduled to be a big two-day Memorial Day weekend event got cut short this weekend at the US 13 Dragway. Saturday night the track was able to work around the weather to get in the 3rd Annual Hot Rod Reunion presented by Tawes Bros. Chevrolet and T.S. Marine Services of Crisfield, Md. On Sunday only time runs were completed before the rain washed out day two.

Taking wins on Saturday night were Glenn Reese of New Castle, Del. in his ‘64 Chevy II. Ben Garnett of Smyrna, Del. made it two in a row in his sharp looking ‘71 Ford Maverick and James Farmer of Milford, Del. rode his Hayabusa to the win in Pro Bike. The special Nostalgia final was won by Ronald Nichols of East New Market, Md. Craig Palmer of Perkasie, Pa. drove his ‘63 Plymouth to the 422 Allstars final and veteran Funny Car driver, Bruce Larson and Bobby Toth split the vintage Funny Car runs. Other winners on the day included: Ryan Lecates of Salisbury, Md. in his ‘88 Chevy S-10; William Wilkerson of Laruel, Del. in his ‘84 Dodge; Chase Huber of Queen Anne, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Brett Holston of Felton, Del. in Jr. Dragster 2.

Glenn Reese’s Nova faced the dragster of Dennis Long in the Top ET final. Long had a -.005 red light and Reese got the eighth-mile win with a 6.471/106.90 on a 6.47 dial. Semi-finalist was Alex Bradford who lost to Long while Reese had the bye.

Ben Garnett was back in the Mod ET final facing Cody Mariner in his ‘78 Malibu. Mariner left early and fouled and Garnett took the eighth-mile win with a 5.750/119.36 on a 5.74 dial. Semi-finalists were Vincent Wade who lost to Garnett and David Hornsby who lost to Mariner.

In the Nostalgia final it was Ronald Nichols paired against Ronnie Bishop in his ‘55 Chevy. The “red light fever� got Bishop and Nichols took the win with a 12.376/94.20 on an 11.50 dial. Semi-finalists were Ryan Groton who lost to Bishop and Billy McLamb who lost to Nichols.

Bruce Larson in his USA1 Funny Car squared off against Bobby Toth in his Time Bomb Camaro in an eighth-mile exhibition. Toth took round one with a 4.321/168.09 to Larson’s 4.588/156.71. In the second round Toth broke and Larson got the win light with a 4.636/166.97.

The 422 Allstars nostalgia Super Stocks had a sold field on hand Saturday night. Craig Balmer in his ‘63 Plymouth defeated Mike Reitz in his Dodge in the final. Balmer had a .004 reaction light and ran dead-on his 10.96 dial with a 10.960! Reitz had a solid 11.413 on an 11.40.

James Farmer rode up against the Kawasaki of Eddie Chapman in the Pro Bike final. Farmer had a .005 reaction light and rode to the win with an 8.604/139.29 on an 8.57 dial. Chapman broke out with a 10.084/135.58 on a 10.10 dial. Semi-finalist was Bill Kenlon who lost to Farmer while Chapman had the bye run.

Ryan Lecates defeated Al Burke in his ‘99 Mustang in the Street final. Burke red-lighted and Lecates ran a 12.474/90.45 on an 11.07 dial for the win. In Hot Rod it was William Wilkerson over the Chevy II of Jacob Foy. Foy fouled and Wilkerson got the win with a 16.420/61.19 on a 14.33 dial.

In Jr. Dragster 1 action it was Chase Huber over Cole Foskey. Foskey left too early and fouled and Huber ran an 11.926/56.22 for the win. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Brett Holston over Caitlyn Hooper. Hooper had the better reaction but was off her dial with an 8.051/78.14 on a 7.90. Holston ran a 7.978/81.62 on a 7.95 dial for the victory.
