JERRY RUSSELL'S TOP WIN OVER BROTHER JAMIE WORTH $5000 IN KETTERMAN'S BAD 8 SHOW

BROTHERS SQUARE OFF IN $5000 TOP ET FINAL IN JERRY KETTERMANS SUPER BAD 8 SHOW AT THE U.S. 13 DRAGWAY

By Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE – Once a year veteran track official, Jerry Ketterman puts together one of the top bracket racing shows in the Mid-Atlantic. With $1000 to win in each of the two Bad 8 divisions and a whopping $5000 to win in Top ET your can always expect the best of the best to turn out.

Sunday was no exception as a great field of cars were on hand to try for their share of Jerry Ketterman’s Super Bad 8 Show money. The Top ET final boiled down to a pair of brothers with Jerry Russell of Felton, Del. taking home the $5k prize. Steven Boone of Ingleside, Md. took home the win in Bad 8 Dragster and Doug Farace of Towson, Md. won in the Bad 8 Full Body.

Other winners on the day included: John Myers of Glen Burnie, Md. in Mod ET; Harvey Powell of Felton in Pro Bike; Michael Jefferson of Parsonsburg, Md. in Street; Josh Davis of Laurel, Del. in Hot Rod; Angelina Battaglia of Elkton, Md. in Jr. Street; Danielle Donze of Felton in Jr. Dragster 1 and Nicholas Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

Steven Boone faced Jerry Birchfield in the Bad 8 Dragster final. Birchfield had a -.001 red light foul and Boone had a .004 to take the win with a 5.746/179.67 on a 5.72 dial in the eighth-mile. In qualifying, Boone set low E.T. with a 5.716. Top Speed was set by Brian Kunkowski of Laurel at 181.37 mph.

In the Bad 8 Full Body it was Doug Farace in his ‘63 Corvette taking on Kevin Banks in his Corvette. Banks had a -.008 red light foul and Farace ran a 6.041/175.91 on a 6.06 dial. Don Teague in his ‘67 Chevy II set Low E.T. in qualifying at 5.905 seconds and Top Speed at 183.29 mph!

It was a pair of dragsters and brother vs. brother in the Top ET final. Jerry Russell was paired against Jamie Russell. The difference in the race was at the starting line when Jerry had a .004 reaction to Jamie’s .018. Jerry would take the win and the $5000 with a 6.533/156.33 on a 6.51 dial. Jamie was on he dial running a 6.119/166.63 on a 6.11 dial. Semi-finalist was the “Delaware Destroyer� Danny Bastianelli who lost to Jamie Russell while Jerry had the bye.

The Mod ET final was a showdown between John Myers in his Chevy S-10 and Kody Mariner in his ‘78 Malibu. Mariner broke out with a 9.723/131.73 on a 9.73 dial and Myers ran a 10.131/121.58 on a 10.11 for the win. Semi-finalist was Brian Reibert, Jr. who lost to Mariner while Myers had the bye.

Defending track champion, Harvey Powell faced David Thompson in the Pro Bike final. Powell was dead-on his dial for the win with a 9.030/140.93 on a 9.03 dial-in. Thompson broke out running a 9.812/133.41 on a 9.82 dial.

It was a pair of long time rivals in the Street final with Michael Jefferson in his Nova up against Gary Stickles in his ‘78 Ford Fairmont. Stickles fouled and Jefferson took the win with an 11.481/116.26 on an 11.47 dial. Angelina Battaglia in her ‘13 Hyundia had the solo final in Jr. Street running a 9.781/71.38. In Hot Rod Josh Davis in his ‘77 Pacer defeated the ‘71 Camaro with Sara Davis. Davis broke out with a 12.324/106.55 on a 12.41 dial. Davis ran a 12.070/108.95 on a 12.02 dial.

Danielle Donze took the Jr. Dragster 1 final over Cole Foskey. Donze ran a 9.135/66.45 on a 9.05 dial. Foskey had a 12.113/51.33 on an 11.90 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Nicholas Bowie over Hope Clarke. Clarke left too early and fouled and Bowie ran a 7.943/80.87 on a 7.96 dial for the victory.
