US 13 DRAGWAY TO MAKE MAJOR OVERHAUL IN 2019

By Chad Cathell - After a lackluster season in 2018 riddled by week after week of rain & bad weather, the US 13 Dragway is looking to completely revamp their appearance in the new year.

Not only was weather a major factor in the memory that is 2018, but the year closed out with a heart wrenching accident during a private test in November. Following the disastrous wreck at the private test involving long time track supporter, Eddie Chapman, track owner Charlie Cathell said it was time to take the next step in fan & racer safety for 2019. The first step in the process was completed when Chapman assisted in the setting of the first barrier on the racing surface.

Beginning February 1st, 2019, the US 13 Dragway has started receiving a shipment of Concrete Jersey Barriers that will stretch approximately 3,600+ feet in total of the racing surface (1,800 + feet per lane). Track staff will immediately begin installing the barriers inside of the existing guardrails, and will remove the existing railing throughout the 2019 season.

Along with the revamped look, the US 13 schedule took an overhaul for 2019. Noticeably missing from the new schedule are the Friday Night Bracket Race’s starting in June and carrying through until August. For the first time in decades, the US 13 Dragway Bracket program will compete exclusively on Sunday’s, and on occasion, Saturday’s as well.

The highly successful Friday Night Fights will return for a second season in 2019, and has grown to an average of twice a month. The Friday Night Fights will have something for every one with a timed Test & Tune for 1/8 & 1/4 available, and a heavy emphasis on N/T & Grudge will be available with N/T Testing, the infamous “Lane 5� Grudge Racing, and a mix of Small & Big Tire N/T Shootouts throughout the year.
